September Blog – Painting and Decorating!

Much as we would like a proper holiday, it just isn’t possible at the moment so, somewhat reluctantly, we have decided to re-decorate the second smallest room in the house which partly serves as a studio, storeroom and cd/dvd and art library. Here are some before, during and after photos of the process.

Work surface – before
Wall strippingduring (using palette knives)
Art and Music library (after)
Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva drying (after)

As you can see, the room has been altered drastically and I shall now be able to draw an paint under the window during winter periods with a work table immediately underneath it and storage of materials, small paintings and art or music books in an area with less light. The new layout will give much more flexibility.

I have also resumed painting activities and dug out a picture of Eynsford village in Kent with the river Cray passing through it which dates back to 2010 and I am now resurrecting and improving (I hope). I’ve also decided to try some more fairly conventional bright and cheerful landscapes to remind us of summer as we now face more restrictions during the winter period. I’m also very mindful again of those who are depressed, suffering and worried about their future, their families and everyone who is adversely affected by this devastating virus. We must all be sensible and act responsibly in all situations.

Eynsford Village temporarily hung in the living room!

I ‘m planning some new landscapes and also to revise a number of older works which on reflection are slightly better than I thought they were originally. I’m therefore looking to carrying on creating and educating myself, a process which I hope to continue until I’m physically or mentally incapable. Onwards and upwards!
