June Blog

I now realise why Venice has been such an inspiration to so many artists, having recently returned from a short break there. When the sun is out it is sensational and visiting this city is quite unlike any other holiday experience we have had.  Returning home I just couldn’t resist trying to recapture something of the city with oils and brushes. The result of these efforts will emerge in due course once the paint is dry enough! It will be based on this photograph which we took.

Soon after our return I visited Camberwell College of Art to see the work of Amber Anderson, an exceptionally talented young illustrator. Her work can be viewed on amberanderson.co.uk.

There is much to look forward to at the moment with a number of London exhibitions – more graduates’ work at Brick Lane, the BP awards at the National Portrait Gallery, the RA Summer Exhibition and many more. In the meantime I am continuing working on a range of work; some is brand new, others are older works which are being revisited and in some cases revised. I am also experimenting with some very small abstract and semi-abstract watercolours. As usual I am never entirely happy with what is emerging!
